Café
Fríða is more than a café, it is a local food experience and storytelling
café, where guest will feel right at home and the culture of the Northern Faroe
Isles.
Named
after the first boat built by the Faroese people 250 years ago, Royndin Fríða
was a boat built by pioneer Nólsoyar Páll, illegally and in hiding. Today it is
recognized to have had great significance for the Faroe Islands.
The
café is located on one of Klaksvik’s main roads, and on the other side of the
café is the beach with a great view over the village and the bay. This is where
rebels and heroes met, where men and women gathered
to discuss new ideas. You will feel the great entrepreneur spirit of Klaksvik, which
still flourishes today. This is where the boat Royndin Fríða laid dock in
between trips to Europe. From
the balcony you also have a great view towards the home and boathouses of
Nólsoyar Páll. These are at the moment being built and restored as museums and
monuments. Café Fríða is run by a strong team. The staff is
friendly, well trained and always willing to chat and share local
stories with guests.
Café
Fríða welcomed its first guests on the 1st of March 2014. It was built and
founded by Mimmy Vágsheyg.
